A writer I follow, whose name is unimportant, as an intellectual genius has contributed hugely to modern thinking related to such things as economics, culture, and consciousness. And yet in recent times he has been largely cancelled due to certain unpopular opinions and rants he’s shared online related to COVID, conspiracies, and his interpretation of evil.
My take is that his massive intellectual prowess has been his downfall. Not that intellect is a bad thing, but his descent into the dark place of trying to figure out how to solve humanity’s problems with the mind alone is a trap that many of us can fall into. I’ve fallen into it at times thinking I can figure everything out without also focusing on healing, consciousness, and heart.
Imagine a battery. Every battery has a specific voltage. Let’s say we have a six-volt battery and it’s lost its charge. So, we charge it with a six-volt charger and it regains its state of charge. But if we attempt to charge it with a 12-volt charge we’ll burn out the battery because it wasn’t designed to accept that level of charge. Or if we attempt to charge it with a 3-volt charge it will gradually weaken over time and eventually become unusable.
Voltage is a good metaphor because it’s not about the flow of energy, but rather about the difference in electric potential between two points, while amperage relates to the actual flow of energy. Therefore, consciousness is very much like voltage, as it pertains to our ability to accept a flow of energy, and energy can be defined as understanding, knowing, emotion and state of being.
