Embracing the Unknown
My mind wants to understand, to intuit, to discern, to define, and place things in context, but this change is beyond my current level of comprehension
I like answers ... a lot. So much so that I’m constantly seeking deeper understanding of things. But recently my quest for depth has led me to some complete unknowns — things I/we may never understand from the realm of human dimension.
Like what is a soul, and what is a spirit, and how are they different? Sure, I can understand these things in simplistic terms. Like I can imagine that our souls are fractals of the great Oneness of Allness. But those are just words. Big words, but words nonetheless.
I can understand (conceptually) that non-duality means everyone and everything are connected. But this too is just a concept constructed from mere human words.
In the past two months Maria and I have both come to feel different in our skin, like some kind of sizable shift has taken place. And it’s easy to understand that living a life of constant inward focus leads to such transformations that engender huge shifts to take place. But sometimes, many times, we may venture so far within ourselves that we discover unexpected things. Like a changing of the guard, an in with the new out with the old, a new spirit and a new-ish soul.
Years ago I had a friend who when celebrating his 25th wedding anniversary I asked what the secret to his marriage was. He replied that he was on his third marriage to the same woman. I never forgot that. Now I feel like I’m on the third life within this incarnation, having just begun the third life. And the uncomfortable sensation I’ve been having of feeling different in my skin is the calibration period of this new reality.
